RESPONSIBILITIES
The Media Strategist of the Revenue Management Team will work with a growing team of high-performance individuals that manages WhenU's media portfolio.

As a Media Strategist, you:

• Become an expert in your assigned industry verticals (i.e. travel, shopping, auto);
• Increase revenue and key metrics as owner of these verticals;
• Make business decisions based on data analysis and communicate results to senior management, including COO;
• Improve user experience by effectively filling all ad inventory;
• Develop strong relationships with clients;
• Provide excellent customer service and sales support; and
• Join a team of dynamic, bright individuals.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must possess an entrepreneurial spirit, the desire to be challenged and be innovative.
• Graduate of a top tier university.
• 1-2 years of work experience with proven track record of effective quantitative analysis.
• Experience and ease manipulating data with MS Excel.
• Demonstrate an ability to "think out of the box" and think beyond what is asked for.
• Must pay attention to detail, yet be able to see the big picture and maximize work effort.
• Must communicate clearly to varying audiences and able to collaborate actively with others in cross-functional teams.
• Internet media background preferred but not required.

SENIOR PERL SYSTEMS ENGINEER
WhenU, a profitable media and advertising company, is looking for smart, dedicated people to join its team of Perl engineers. Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where you can apply your engineering skills to develop creative solutions to tough problems? Do you like working with a team of dedicated individuals on client-server applications with millions of end-users? If so, then step up and join WhenU.

Required Experience

• BS/BA (MS preferred) degree in computer science, computer engineering, mathematics or Information Systems
• 7+ years of experience with Perl, relational databases and web applications
• 3+ years of experience with the Apache Web server, mod_perl 1.0 and 2.0 and related web server configuration
• 3+ years of experience with application and user interface design
• Experience developing reports on any reporting/BI platform (Crystal, LogiXML, BusinessObjects, Cognos, Intelliview, Jasper, etc.)

Responsibilities/Requirements

• Ability to determine unique and creative solutions to problems within a rapid development environment
• Apply critical thinking and quantitative skills to improve efficiency of the business
• Design high-quality, modular database-driven applications to help solve current and future problems
• Optimize queries, indexes, stored procedures and other to increase throughput, availability, scalability, redundancy, superior performance and quick recoverability
• Develop reports and custom queries for internal and external users
• Communicate well and participate in a fast-paced team environment
• Recommend strategies to take advantage of database capabilities for new and existing projects
• Interact with other developers and personnel to create and test applications
• Work with representatives of business units to gather requirements and define project scope
• Generate internal documentation describing software developed

Desired Technical Knowledge

• SQL and in particular MySQL
• Working knowledge of CVS version control
• Intermediate knowledge of Linux systems administration
• Experience with the LogiXML or Crystal reporting platform is a plus
• Perl CGI as well as modern templating environments such as HTML::Template and Mason
• HTML and JavaScript a plus
